Ian Fleming (1908-1964)

Ian Fleming attended schools such as Eton and Sandhurst military academy. He started writing while schooling in Kitzbuhel, Austria. Later after he was unsuccessful in passing the entrance requirements for Foreign Service, he joined the Reuters as a journalist. After the WWII ended, Ian retired to Jamaica where he built a house called 'Goldeneye', and he took up writing full-time and created the character of James Bond in the novel Casino Royale. He would go on to write a total of 12 novels and 9 short stories chronicling the adventures of the British Secret Service Agent James Bond.
