Description

Kanji Mehta is an atheist, who runs an antique shop. For him, God and religion are nothing more than a business proposition.

One fine day, when a slight tremor of an earthquake shakes the city, it causes the destruction of only one shop in the entire city, Kanji's shop!

However for just such a situation, he has taken out more than adequate insurance. But as they say, man proposes, god disposes, or in this case, Insurance company disposes; for, the insurance companies possess a holistic shield against all such claims (i.e.) 'ACT OF GOD'. Now, this 'act of god' is that fine print which is hardly ever read by the policy taker, but can be used by the insurance agency to deny any unwarranted claim. The insurance company invokes this act of god and promptly rejects the claim saying that 'earth-quake' is not a man made phenomenon, it can only be brought on by an 'act of god'.

Frustrated, and left with no option, Kanji decides to file a case against God on the premise that if God is responsible for his loss, as has been made amply clear by the Insurance Company, then it is God's responsibility to compensate him for his losses. SO THAT'S HOW GOD GETS SUED!

Category: Feature Film

Genre: Comedy, Drama

Description

Gali Gali Chor Hai follows the story of a common man, Bharat (Akshaye Khanna). Bharat works at a bank in Bhopal, MP and playing Hanuman in the local Ramleela is his pet hobby. Bharat lives with his father (Satish Kaushik), wife (Shriya Saran) and a paying guest (Mugdha Ghodse). A local politician gets peeved with Bharat for not giving him a spare room in his house to set up his election office, and decides to get back at him. So he uses the help of the local cop station to harass Bharat in every way possible.

The film is refreshingly an earthy satire, where the protagonist is a totally believable common man, who doesn't turn into a superhero when pinned against the wall. Bharat is stuck in a helpless situation and everyone around him greedily tries to take advantage of him.

Description

When 3 students of Delhi University go missing on their trip to Jhanjhar - a village in Bihar, the media and students body creates a furor as the incident appears to be driven by caste and racial tensions prevalent in the area.

Under tremendous pressure, the government sends CBI officers Sidhant Chaturvedi (Akshaye Khanna) and Pratap Kumar (Ajay Devgan) to investigate the matter.

However, investigating in Jhanjhar becomes a tough task for these officers who face severe animosity from the local police force, headed by Bhura Ram (Paresh Rawal) and their politically driven parallel body called the Shool Sena. Besides, their contrasting personalities and clashing ideologies create additional problems for the duo.

The case goes on to create further mayhem in the village with riots, burning of houses and killing of peasants in broad daylight.

Finally, it is with the help of Geeta (Bipasha Basu), a victim of the racial / caste conflicts herself and Roshni (Amita Pathak), the daughter of the most powerful and richest person of village that the two officers are able to solve the mystery of the missing students.
