Description

A documentary-film on Netaji Research Bureau.

Sisir Kumar Bose (1920 - 2000) founder the Netaji Research Bureau in 1957 and was its guiding spirit until his death in 2000. A participant in the Indian freedom struggle, he was imprisoned by the British in the Lahore Fort, Red Fort and Lyallpur Jail. In the post Independence period, he played a key role in preserving the best traditions of the anti colonial movement and making possible the writing of its history. In his won words, "Having lived on this planet for the past eight decades I can justifiable claim the 20th century to be my inheritance. I Look upon mine as a combination of images and events in my country and the world at large which influenced my development and propelled me into the journey through life. ...As I grew into adolescence, my mental constitution, the shape and from of which I inherited essentially from my parents, developed into an ideology, the basics of which were provided by the national consciousness emanating from Gandhi, the dazzling vision of a brave new world of Subhas Chandra Bose, personally too close and compelling and the sacrificial patriotism of Bengal revolutionaries, who taught us to believe that blood of the martyr is the seed of the Church".
