Description Aditi Majumdar is an educated middle-aged housewife, bored with her humdrum existence. An old friend, Hemenmama, encourages her to start writing, and soon her first work is published. Unfortunately, her husband Supratim and two sons show no enthusiasm and even disparage her literary efforts. One day a drunk Supratim abuses his wife and tells her that he has prohibited Hemenmama from coming to their house. All these insults are borne by Aditi silently. The painful realisation comes to her that a woman has no identity of her own in a male-dominated society. She decides to give up writing and composes a letter to Hemenmama informing him of this. Next day, Aditi gets up early and sets her pet bird free. Then, she tears up the letter and lets the winter breeze whisk away the pieces of paper.
