Sharmila Tagore is an extremely successful and a popular Indian actress and is the daughter of a distant relative of the legendary Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore. Sharmila debuted in films with a Satyajit Ray Bengali film Apur Sansar. She began acting in Hindi films with a romantic musical titled Kashmir Ki Kali directed by the famous Shakti Samantha in the year 1964 opposite Shammi Kapoor. Her unmatched acting talent and versatility is evident in her roles that range from a simple village girl, to a prostitute to an ailing mother. After having acted in a number of successful films, Sharmila married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi in 1968 to the disappointment of her many fans and continued to act in films after that. Some of most successful films were after her marriage such as Aradhana, Safar and Amar Prem. She is blessed with three children.
